This rosary is a set with metal beads, a cross, and a medal (saint's medal). When I purchased it, I wanted to respect the owner's wishes, so I decided to sell it as is.
The large, colorful medal has the inscription "vaticanvm ll" visible, which appears to be a commemorative medal related to the Second Vatican Council, a historic meeting of the Catholic Church. The reverse side features Pope Paul VI, the 262nd Pope, who reigned from 1963 to 1978.
The second, slightly smaller medal appears to depict Saint Christopher carrying the child Jesus across a river on his shoulders. Saint Christopher is known as the patron saint of travelers and drivers. The reverse side shows a portrait of Pope John XXIII, who was affectionately known as the "Good Pope" and reigned from 1958 to 1963.
In the Catholic Church, a rosary refers to both the prayer itself and the devotional object used to count the prayers. The name originates from the Latin word "rosarium," meaning "rose garden" or "garland of roses."
It is said to symbolize the idea of offering a garland of roses to the Virgin Mary, with each recited prayer representing a rose.
It is believed to be of Vatican or Italian origin.
