This is an antique cake plate from Creil et Montereau. It is a rare model with characteristic decorative holes on the rim, also known as a "panier" plate. The central motif is rendered using a technique called "grisaille," which depicts shades of monochrome. Many of their series depict historical events or scenes from daily life, and this cake plate is one piece from a series themed around the Siege of Sevastopol.

Creil et Montereau was a pottery established in 1840 when the Creil and Montereau kilns merged.

This pierced model is relatively rare and appears to be popular among collectors. It is estimated to be from around 1840-1920.

There is almost no crazing and no chips. It is in very good condition.
