This is a French antique Sarreguemines grisailles dessert plate. It has crazing, cracks, and unglazed areas from the time of production, but its most striking features are the beautiful blue rim and the grisailles painting technique, depicted in monochrome.

Talking plates depict people and landscapes, and in those days, text or moral lessons were added below the pictures. This plate, with the inscription "the good old days," is believed to be part of a series depicting scenes from stories that incorporated satire and humor, or perhaps the elegant lives of upper-class men and women of the time. Incidentally, "talking plate" literally means "talking plate," and each plate depicted a different story scene, making them popular as collectible items where people would enjoy the story by collecting multiple plates. They are thought to have been produced around 1840-1870.

This item is very popular among antique lovers. It is perfect for serving desserts and light meals, and also makes a wonderful decorative piece. Adding it to your antique plate collection will create a unique atmosphere.

There is crazing and a crack on the upper part. There are also areas that appear to be unglazed from the time of production. Due to the crack, this antique item is priced quite affordably. It is fine for display purposes. Please purchase with understanding.
